MBALE CITY

Sezi Mafabi, the Mbale City Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) interim chairperson has been locked out of office by a rival faction.

Mafabi found himself in the cold last week when he went to his office as usual at Malukhu Shaber to work only to get a new padlock on the door.

Mafabi alleges that it’s Mansa Musa and his faction who closed the office with the aim of entering it and executing FDC duties since Mansa Musa has been claiming to be the truly elected chairperson of Mbale city.

Mafabi says that during the recent FDC party election, Margret Wokuri was elected as Mbale city FDC chairperson but after getting a new position as Eastern region deputy president, the party headquarter put him in office as interim chairperson pending new elections.

He adds that in the process, Mansa Musa with a few Mbale city FDC leaders organized elections without the acknowledgment of the national head office and elected Mansa Musa as chairperson.

He urged the head office to come in and intervene in the matter so that such conflicts can be stopped.

Silaji Lulendi the LCI chairperson of Lwakhakha cell, Industrial City Division also from Mansa Musa faction says that the Mansa Musa is the truly elected FDC Mbale city chairperson who must occupy the office but not Mafabi.

When contacted on phone, Mansa Musa promised to get back to our reporter in a short time which he didn’t by press time.

The office is still closed as the interim chairperson is still waiting for the response from the head office
