In a bid to address the rising insecurity plaguing Namisindwa District, renowned security expert, Simon Mulongo, who also serves as the African Union deputy envoy at AMISOM-The African Mission in Somalia, has called upon local security forces to take decisive action.

Mulongo is urging authorities to intensify their intelligence operations and root out criminals who are causing residents sleepless nights.

The district has recently experienced a surge in armed robbery incidents, with two major cases occurring in the Greater Bumbo area. These incidents have sparked fear and concern among local businessmen. The robbers were armed with guns and reportedly wore army uniforms, raising suspicion about the source of these weapons.

Having been a former member of parliament for Bubulo East, Mulongo says he has already shared his insights and recommendations with the Resident District Commissioner, who holds the key responsibility for security matters in the district. He has emphasized the need to trace and apprehend the criminals swiftly.

Mulongo has also expressed intentions to coordinate with the Regional Police Commander (RPC) and District Police Commander (DPC) while seeking assistance from national-level authorities.

Recently, seven sub-county heads from the greater Bumbo region in Namisindwa District have submitted a petition requesting a UPDF Barracks to be established in the area. This initiative aims to supplement the efforts of the local police in safeguarding the district against criminal activities.
