The embattled Karamoja Affairs Minister has been slapped with new charges at the Anti-Corruption Court, Kololo in Kampala.

Mary Goretti Kitutu has been added onto an already existing Charge Sheet involving Geoffrey Sseremba, the former Accounting Officer at OPM, Matsagazi Deogratious, the Department Head of Pacification and Development Program, and Tracy Atuhirwe, the Acting Head of Accounts at the office of the Prime Minister.

The new charges against the Minister in an amended charge sheet by the Inspectorate of Government arise from alleged causing of financial loss to government to a tune of Shs1.5 billion.

The Anti-Corruption Court has consequently summoned the Minister and Ms Atuhirwe to appear before it on 29th February, 2024 to take plea.

The IGG is accusing the Minister of failing to conduct various peace-building activities in the Karamoja sub region between February and June 2022 that caused government financial loss of Shs1.5 billion.

The IGG also contends that Minister Kitutu together with Sseremba and Masagazi with intention to obtain benefits for themselves supervised the disbursement of over Shs2.2 billion to various staff at the OPM between February to June 2022.
