A district councilor at Budaka District and Secretary for Education and Health has been arrested on allegations of obtaining money by false pretense from job seekers.
According to the Bukedi North Police Spokesperson, SP Semewo Samuel, Mukamba George who was arrested today, 17th February, 2024 at Budaka has been a serial conman, getting money from job seekers and promising to offer them the same.
This habit was brought to the light by a one Kibubula Sulaiman, aged 47 years, a teacher by profession, and resident of Irabi village, Kademeri Sub County, Budaka district.
According to police, Kibubula now at Butobe Primary School in Budaka reported him at Budaka police station after becoming a victim of the same.
Kibubula alleges to have given Mukamba 4 million shillings in 2022 in turn of promoting him to the position of a Head teacher, the position he has been waiting for but in vain.
Due to over waiting, Kibubula decided to report Mukamba at Budaka police station VID CRB 39/2024.
“Mukamba has been using his position as a district councilor as well as secretary for Education and Health and also using top district officials names to obtain money from people,” says Semewo.
Semewo adds that while Police in Budaka was still gathering evidence and preparing file for Mukamba to be arrested, police from Mbale came with a matching order to arrest Mukamba on the same allegation of Obtaining Money from a certain woman ( name with held) after promising her a medical job in Budaka district on shillings Five million.
“Mukamba was arrested by Budaka police and later handed him over to Mbale police to answer the allegation as Budaka police is also waiting for him on CRB 39/2024,” says Semewo.
Currently, Mukamba is still at Mbale police as inquiries are at hand.
