Gulu High School H/M, School Accountant Remanded Over Shs336M Theft

Former Gulu High School Head teacher and his Senior Accounts Assistant have been charged with Causing Financial Loss and Conspiracy to Defraud at the Anti-Corruption Court, Kampala.

 

Picho Paul Kennedy, and former Senior Accounts Assistant, Okema Geoffrey appeared before the Anti-Corruption Court on Monday, 19th February, 2024 and were remanded to Luzira Prisons till 21st February, 2024 when they will reappear for mention of their case and bail application.

 

According to the State House Anti Corruption Unit, the duo while still at Gululu High School, a government aided school, and were joint signatories to the Gulu High School account with Stanbic Bank, withdrew funds amounting to Shs36,374,052, which were meant for Gayaza High School but had been credited to their school account by mistake.

 

The accused then used the funds for personal use, knowing well that their actions would cause financial loss to Stanbic Bank.
