BUDUDA
The government through the Office of the Prime Minister has kicked off implementing cash transfers to landslide affected persons in the Elgon region starting with Bududa district. This will enable quick relocation of the affected persons to safer places.
This was revealed by the State Minister for relief and Disaster Preparedness, Esther Anyakun while meeting with all the Bududa district leaders on Monday, 26th February, 2024.
Anyakun also revealed that all persons at high risk areas who have received Shs7 million will also get additional Shs10 million and 2 acres of land from the government starting this month of February.
She however says that the Shs17 million will only be given to those willing to surrender their land for government to plant trees.
The Chairman LC 5 of Bududa District, Milton Kamoti called upon his people living in disaster prone areas to receive the money and vacate those areas as a way of saving their lives.
