The long awaited 14th edition of Entebbe Ladies open kicked-off on Thursday, 29th February, 2024 at Entebbe Golf course. The tournament will run from February 29th to March 2, 2024. A total of 200 golfers from different categories are taking part in the tournament.
The Entebbe Ladies golf Capt. Jovia Tugume revealed that Ladies Group A category will be playing for three days, Ladies Group B category for over two days, the men’s amateur play for over three days and the subsidiary category will play on the final day.
She however, noted that the 2023 defending champion, Martha Babirye will not participate in this year’s Ladies Golf open because she is away for other duties.
Mrs. Jovia Tugume appreciated all the sponsors adding that 230 golfers have registered to participate in the tournament.
She explained that Entebbe Ladies Open is ranked in World Amateur Ranking event for both lady gross players and men gross players to enable its golfers earn ranking points and also know where they lie in the world Amateur Golf Ranking.
Mrs. Jemimah Akatekit, the Corporate Communications Manager Crown beverages, said her company is grateful to be part of Ladies open golf tournament and pledged to offer lots of drinks throughout the tournament.
The marketing manager for Uganda Airlines, Sylvia Kaggwa, said the national airline has offered free tickets to those who will emerge winners for a trip to Nairobi and Johannesburg respectively.
The marketing Executive KCB Bank, Zainab Kalyowa, said as KCB bank, they have contributed Shs.8m towards the tournament adding that their sponsorship is to make golf better.
