BREAKING! IGP Okoth Ochola Hands Over Office to Deputy, Tumusiime

The Inspector General of Police, Martin Okoth Ochola has today, 4th March, 2024 handed over the office to his Deputy Maj. Gen Tumusiime Katsigazi after the expiry of his Contract.

 

This was confirmed by SCP Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson in a weekly media briefing at Naguru Police Headquarters, Kampala.

 

Okoth’s contract expired today and sources within the Force say, the IGP did not seek for renewal of his contract.

 

We wish to inform the public that the outgoing IGP handed over office today to deputy who is the receiving officer, pending the appointment of a substantive IGP.

 

The ceremony took place at police Headquarters Naguru attended by all members of police advisory committee.

 

Ochola, 65, was appointed IGP on March 14, 2018, replacing Gen Kale Kayihura. Ochola’s contract expired today, March 4, 2024. Reliable sources say President Museveni decided not to renew Ochola’s contract, paving way for an internal process to select his replacement.
