The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Youth League has dismissed the Yellow Youth Movement as impostors, conmen and self seekers.
This is contained in a press statement issued today, 9th March, 2024 where the NRM Youth League says the YYM is not part of the Party’s youth league.
“We would like to inform our members and the public generally against associating with these fellows who are now extorting money claiming to be working for and on behalf of NRM Youth League,” reads the statement in part.
The rift between the two organs has moved into policy issues as well. For instance, the YYM members are today, 9th March, 2024 demonstrating in Kyandondo against some CEC Members whom they accuse of defying President Museveni’s directive to hold graasroot elections for NRM structures.
On the other hand, the NRM Youth League has said they are in support of the CEC position to postpone the grassroot elections.
The NRM Youth League is led by Gaddafi Nassur who is the National Chairperson with regional National Vice Chairpersons.
They are Nicholas Nuwagira for Western Uganda, Solomon Mayanja Kampala, Augustine Modo for Karamoja, Beru Abe for Eastern Uganda, Achile Twaib Northern Uganda and Kitata Ibrahim as the National Vice Chairperson Central.
The National General Secretary is Muhindo Morris, National Publicity is Odongo Samuel with Buntu Enoch being the National Treasurer.
Meanwhile, the Yellow Youth Movement recently launched in Kyandondo has Jacob Eyeru, the National Youth Council Chairperson at its Apex.
At the launch of YYM, Eyeru was quoted saying the Pressure group ‘was an initiative of the NRM Youth League to revitalize the life and role of youth in the NRM Party as we go towards 2026.”
