MBALE CITY
Police of Mbale city on orders of deputy resident city commissioner on Monday, 11th March, 2024 arrested a father for persistent torture of his son with the help of his wife, the boy’s step mother. The step mother is on the run.
The father is known as Dan Kituno, a resident of Namatala Ward, Industrial City Division in Mbale city.
The tortured boy is aged nine years and a primary three pupil of Nabuyonga primary school located at Industrial city division in Mbale city.
It was the head teacher of Nabuyonga primary school, Grace Kabunu who called Hamuza Banja, the deputy RCC of Industrial city division after seeing burnt wounds on the boy’s back.
Kabunu says when she asked the boy the source of the wounds, he revealed that it is his step mother and father who burnt him alleging that he is big headed.
Indeed when the boy was undressed, his back was found full of old and fresh wounds. Hamuza Banja went to the boy’s parent’s home with police and arrested the father.
Kabunu said that they became suspicious of the boy because he could come late and at times very dirty and even without books to use in class.
‘’The two parents must have been torturing this boy seriously basing on what we discovered,’’ Mrs Kabunu said.
Kitunu pleaded guilty to torturing the boy and requested for forgiveness.
He said that the boy has been a thief and big headed even reaching a time of being disobedient which forced his step mother to burn him using hot iron.
Banja says the suspect was arrested and is currently detained at Mbale central police station waiting to answer charges of child neglect and torture but the step mother is on
