Leaders of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Sironko district on Monday 11th, March, 2024 received materials from the NRM Secretariat for updating the Party Voters Register and kicked off training of Registras.
This initiative aims to facilitate internal elections and strategize mobilization efforts for the upcoming 2026 general elections.
The training was attended by the district NRM chairman, all the sub-county NRM chairpersons, and their registrars and presided over by Hajji Sulaiman Makwasi, serving as a sub-regional coordinator for the districts of Sironko, Bulambuli, and Namisindwa, to ensure its success.
While addressing participants at Sironko district headquarters, Lumolo emphasized the importance of the exercise, stressing the need for accuracy and adherence to guidelines.
Lumolo stated that this exercise should take place in a gazetted location and will commence on Wednesday, 13th March, and conclude on Sunday, 17th March 2024, with the holding of village Barazas to confirm village membership.
“To be included in the register, individuals must possess a valid national ID and be endorsed by their respective village chairpersons and fellow residents as genuine NRM members,” he said.
“I warn the village chairpersons and other leaders against influencing the registrars to register non-NRM members, warning of legal consequences for offenders,” Mafabi noted.
Security measures have been put in place to safeguard the integrity of the process, with district Admin overseeing operations.
Registrars are urged to complete registrations efficiently, “Don’t let people linger; five minutes are enough to finish registering someone and move on to work.” Lumolo noted.
In his closing remarks, Mafabi urged leaders to uphold the integrity of the registration process and adhere to the principles outlined during training.
He emphasized the importance of accuracy and efficiency in identifying genuine NRM members for inclusion in the final register.
