The Uganda Cranes Male Cricket Team has done Ugandans proud after bagging a bronze medal in the third place playoff against our neighbors Kenya in the ongoing 13th edition of All African games being played in Accra city, Ghana.

Uganda won a bronze medal after defeating Kenya cricket team with 106 runs on March 22, 2024. The results indicate Uganda scored 206/6 in 20 overs while Kenya scored 100/9 in 20 overs and in the end Uganda won with 106 runs.

Uganda cranes cricket player, Cosmas Kyewuta was named player of the match after posting 4/14 in 4 overs while his teammate, Henry Ssenyondo became close to being named player of the match but unfortunately posted 2/25 in 4 overs.

Kyewuta said he is proud to represent his country after spending a year out due to injury and believes his team could have won the gold medal but unfortunately the batsmen let the team down in the previous match encounter against Namibia cricket team.

The Uganda cranes cricket team Head coach Jackson Ogwang, says he is happy his team won 4 out of 5 games played adding that his team met the hardest rock against Namibian cricket team and couldn’t go past it. He however says the bronze medal gives him and his team momentum going into the upcoming tournament.

The vice captain Uganda cranes cricket team, Kenneth Waiswa said he is disappointed his team didn’t win a gold medal and promised to correct the mistakes that cost his team from winning the coveted gold medal.
