The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has unearthed a scheme in which unscrupulous Ugandans has defrauded a Turkish Company of fertilizers worth Shs2.2B.
According to a statement issued by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit on Tuesday, 9th March, 2024, the clique led by a one Ronnie Mukasa conned a Turkish company called Iskenderun Fertilizer Inc.
It is alleged that Mukasa and others between May and September 2023 while using a company Kureha (U) Ltd, duped the Turkish company into sending 28 containers each containing 540 bags of fertilizers to Uganda.
That upon receipt of the goods, the fraudsters cut communication and put the fertilizers on market for sell.
“Investigations have so far recovered some of the fertilizers around container village and this afternoon (Tuesday), State House Anti-Corruption Unit together with CID have joined the leaders of container village to call upon the traders to return the stolen goods, and also aid in the ongoing investigations,” reads the statement in part.
So far the suspects are still at large.
