The State House Anti-corruption Unit has summoned Esther Lubunde, the woman who accused Deputy Speaker of Parliament of grabbing her land in a video that went viral on Social media.

In a statement dated today 17th April, 2024, the SHAU says it has followed the case relating to alleged land grabbing of land belonging to Dr. Edward Lubunde and his wife since 2021 and never have the Lubunde’s raised a complaint against the person of Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa.

SHAU says they investigated the matter and discovered that Dr. Lubunde bought the said land from a one Nkubiito Allan without the consent and knowledge of the Nkubiito family.

That without the knowledge of the sale, the Nkubiito family also sold the same land to Nziza Patrick who took possession and built a house.

The Lubunde’s first reported this case at Entebbe police where they later felt it was being mismanaged. Consequently, they reported to the State House Anti-corruption unit.

The Unit then intervened and caused the charging of Nziza and Nkubiito with obtaining money by false pretense and criminal trespass.

However, while at State House Anti-corruption Unit, Nziza offered to settle the matter amicably to which the Lubunde’s declined.

SHAU says that the Lubunde’s instead filed a suit against Nkubiito and Nziza upon which the latter filed a counter suit Lubunde and the Commissioner Land Registration that Lubunde acquired his land title fraudulently.

On 29th March, 2023, the High Court Land Division ruled in favor of Nziza and Dr. Lubunde was ordered to pay costs.

That Esther’s allegations that her husband was abducted are false because Lubunde was rather committed to Civil Prison for failure to pay costs awarded against him in the civil case against Nziza.

It is against this background that the SHAU has summoned Esther to substantiate her claims warning that using social media for selfish and illegitimate ends is unlawful and offenders may be charged.

Tayebwa however met Esther this afternoon and says he has forgiven her
