BUTALEJA
There was drama at Bunghoma A village, Buwihula Parish, Busaba Sub County in Butaleja district after four notorious chicken thieves were forced to sign a ‘ceasefire’ agreement before the public during a local council security meeting.
The four who pleaded guilty to their thieving acts on Thursday, 2nd May, 2024 are Moses Ndwayi, God Tasebula, Michael Hiisa, and Paul Hiire all residents from same area.
These thugs on Wednesday night broke into the house of Samuel Weere, a fellow resident and went away with his 50 birds.
During the search by local leaders and locals the following morning, cooked birds were found at the home of God Tasebula who has been the ring leader of the group.
Tom Weere, the LCII, of Buwihula parish who chaired the meeting summoned the four to the meeting although people wanted to lynch them but were stopped by local leaders.
During the meeting, the four pleaded guilty to terrorizing locals in the area and promised to reform which made local leaders to force them to sign a written agreement.
Paul Negohe, the LC1 vice chairman of Bunghoma A village expressed his happiness with the four for admitting and reforming but urged them to involve themselves in income generating activities.
He warned the public against taking the law in their hands but report such suspected thugs to local leaders or police.
Wilber Malinga Kapere, one of the residents who attended the security local meeting says that these suspects have been giving them sleepless nights.
He urged them to always go to church and pray such that they learn good manners.
The cooked chicken exhibits were later given back to the owner with serious warnings to the four suspects.
