The Uganda Bureau of Standards (UBOS) has granted a waiver extending the 2024 National Population Census exercise in what it calls a mopping exercise.
In a letter addressed to Chief Administrative Officers, City and Municipal Clerks dated 18th May, 2024, UBOS has extended the deadline from Sunday, 19th May to 25th May, 2024.
The Enumeration Areas that have been given the waiver are Hard to Reach Areas, where the login process was resolved after one to four days, and villages that were missing on the system.
During this waiver period, heads of households that have not been counted are advised to report to their LC1 Chairpersons to agree on the most convenient time they can be counted.
In Mbale for instance, Census exercise was suspended in Bufumbo village, Bufukhula parish, Nyondo Sub County in Mbale district after yet to be known thugs stole enumeration gadgets from the village Enumerator.
In Serere district, heavy rains disrupted the Census exercise for the first two days.
