BUSIA: Fox Infects Three Minors with Rabies in carnivorous Attack

A Fox has infected three minors with rabies after attacking two families on Monday, 20th May, 2024 at Solo C cell in Busia town Council, Busia district during day.

 

According to Jimmy Ngolobe, the Busia District Natural Resources Officer, the victims are Miracle Akol aged 3 years, Dauson Mugwabi 13 years and Amisi Dikusoka, 12 years of age.

 

Silver Kirya, one of the fathers of the minors, says that the fox attacked his home from nowhere when he was not around and started biting his children.

 

Wycliffe Waluba, the Busia District Veterinary Officer confirmed the incident saying that they tested the victims and found out that they had been infected with rabies adding that they are on treatment at Tororo hospital.

 

He adds that cases of wild animals attacking people in the district for the last six months are on the increase because people are encroaching on wetlands which harbor wild animals.
