MBALE CITY
An angry mob has lynched a man suspected to have stolen a motorcycle belonging to one of the Mbale City Boda Boda cyclists.
The incident took place on Sunday night, 9th June, 2024 at the outskirts of Nakaloke Town Council, Northern City Division in Mbale City.
According to Juma Masera, the Publicity Secretary of Mbale Boda Boda Riders and Owners Association, the suspect, so far only known as Sam was got red-handed with a stolen motorcycle number UFM 438Q at Nkoma.
He told this reporter that when pressed, he accepted to lead the Boda Boda riders to the person who allegedly sold to him the motorcycle at Nakaloke but before reaching Nakaloke trading center, he tried to jump off from the motorcycle and run.
“That’s when angry Boda Boda riders who were escorting him armed with pangas, and stones started beating him until he died on spot,” says Masera.
Asumin Nasike, the Mbale RCC confirmed the incident saying police swung in action and recovered the suspected stolen motorcycle and took the body to Mbale city mortuary for postmortem.
Getting a comment from police by press time was futile after Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson failed to pick our repeated calls.
