FINALLY: Construction of 9.6 Km Bududa – Busano Road Kicks Off

BUDUDA

 

The rehabilitation works of the 9.6 kilometer Bududa-Busano road has today, Tuesday, 11th June, 2024 been launched.

 

The road had stayed for decades without rehabilitation which made Counties like Bududa, Bukibokolo, Bumasheti and Bududa part of Bududa town council and neighboring Busano sub county of Mbale district inaccessible.

 

While speaking to the media during the launch, Africano Aharikundira, the Bududa Resident District Commissioner revealed that the works are going to be supevised by Uganda National Roads Authority at a total cost of Shs1.6 billion.

 

He adds that the actual works are commencing next week urging people in the area to embrace the exercise.

 

Patrick Nabutanyi Kibeti, the Bududa district acting information officer says that works have been given to Kama contractor going to do all works for the period of two months.

 

Milton Kamoti the Bududa district LCV chairperson urged the contractor to do quality work such that locals can benefit

 

He urged local leaders in the area to supervise the works and report the contractor in case of bad quality work such that tax payers money can be used well.

 

John Baptist Nambeshe, the area Member of Parliament representing Manjiya County in Bududa district urged the contractor to hurry and finish work in two months time which were agreed on.

 

He says that Bududa being in mountainous areas, has fertile soil which favors agriculture adding that farmers in the area have been facing challenges in transporting their agricultural products to Mbale town and surrounding areas due to impassible roads.
