Anti-Corruption’s Court Chief Magistrate, Joan Aciro has today 17th June, 2024 committed two Ugandan Members of Parliament to the High Court Anti-Corruption Division to stand trial,
Bunyole East MP Yusuf Mutembuli and Lwengo District Woman MP, Cissy Dionizia Namujju who had earlier appeared for bail application were consequently remanded further.
This was in response to the Director of Public Prosecutions directive that the trio, Mutembuli, Namujju and Paul Akamba (who was not in court) should be sent to the High Court Anti-Corruption Division to stand trial.
Chief State Attorney, Jonathan Muwaganya told the court presided over by the chief magistrate, Joan Aciro that he had instructions from the DPP to have Mr Yusuf Mutembuli, Mr Paul Akamba and Ms Cissy Namujju committed to High Court after police concluded their investigations.
However, it was only Mr Mutembuli and Ms Namujju who appeared in court as Mr Akamba’s whereabouts are still unknown following his violent arrest by gunmen in civilian clothes last Friday moments after he was granted bail.
