The Mbale Chief Magistrate has cautioned the public against dealing with bush lawyers at court premises.
Her Worship, Suzan Awide sounded the warning on Tuesday, 2nd July, 2024 during a Media engagement meeting at Mbale high court premises.
She describes Bush Lawyers as persons who masquerade as Court Staff who can help litigants in handling their cases and usually ask for money in return.
Awide says that any client who deals with such people does so at his or her own risk.
Awide says that they have got Information that those Bush lawyers convince court clients to give them money claiming that they are taking the money to a Judge, or Magistrate to rule in their favor.
She says that most times the Bush Lawyers disappear immediately they have received money from the unsuspecting litigants who later go their offices complaining.
Awide adds that judiciary has gone ahead to chase Bush Lawyers from court premises because they are tarnishing the name of the Institution yet they are not their staff but still clients go ahead dealing with them in secret.
