President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has created a new Unit tasked with the task of overseeing operations at Uganda Revenue Authority and fighting corruption in the Tax Body.
According to a Press release from PPU dated today, 5th July, 2024, the Unit is called State House Revenue Intelligence and Strategic Operations Unit (SHRI&SOU).
The President has also appointed David Kalemera as a Senior Presidential Advisor and head of the Unit.
The Unit will do an oversight over the operations of URA and fight corruption within the tax administration system.
The President believes that the creation of the Unit will close revenue leakages and help government boost revenue collection.
