The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has clarified its position on Boda Boda riders distributing national examination materials.

The clarification was made by the National Examinations Board Executive Director Dan Odongo while officially releasing the 2024 Examinations time table on Monday, 30th September, 2024.

Odongo says that whereas the Board does not stop a senior examinations official from using a motorcycle (including boda bodas) to distribute examination materials if it’s the best available option at the time, it does not permit Boda Boda riders to distribute materials in the absence of a senior official.

“What the Board is against is the use of boda boda riders as distributors of examination papers. It has happened before and we got challenges with security of examination materials,” says Odongo.

He added that when boda boda riders were used, criminals infiltrated the system and the Board had challenges with the security of examination materials insisting that UNEB will not permit further use of boda boda riders as distributors of examination papers.

The 4ES start on 11th October for UCE with UCE – New Curriculum ending on 8th November and UCE Transitional on 15th November, 2024.

This is then followed by PLE that starts on 4th November (Briefing) and ending on 7th November and finally UACE kicking off on 7th November and ending on 6th December 2024.
