A mother and her son have died on the spot along Mbale-Tirinyi highway at Lupada swamp in Budaka district after being knocked by a speeding motor vehicle yet to be identified.
The fatal accident occurred on Wednesday night, 2nd October, 2024 at about 11:00PM claiming the lives of Sarah Nayiruba aged 45 years, a Musoga by tribe and a resident of Nawangaizi Sub County in Kamuli District and HER son, Jackson Tusubira 30 year old resident of the same address.
According to Samuel Semewo, the Bukedi North police spokesperson, the two were traveling on motorcycle registration number UFE 270X Baja boxer red in color which was hit by not identified speeding motor vehicle on their way to Mbale to pick their, a one Mwesigwa Alex (son to Nayiruba) who travelled from Gulu waiting for them from Mbale City.
He says that according to an eye witness, he heard a terrible crash near his work place and he later identified that two people had got an accident and died on spot.
Semewo says Police visited the scene of crash, made a sketch plan, recorded relevant statements and later conveyed the bodies to Budaka health center IV for postmortem examination.
