A Land Cruiser registration Number CD 9347U white in colour has fatally knocked a 9 year old girl who was on her way back home from fetching water for domestic use.
The accident took place in Bumasikye Township along Kapchorwa- Nabongo Highway in Bulambuli District at about 6:00PM.
Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region Police Spokesperson identified the deceased as Mugide Agatha, 9 yr old pupil of Glory Hill Primary School in Bulambuli District
Taitika says the driver of the ill-fated land Cruiser, a one 40 year old Odyek Denis, and resident of Bukoto, Kampala City was later apprehended in Mbale City and is currently at CPS Mbale as investigations continue.
Taitika says its alleged that the deceased was from fetching water and when she was crossing Kapchorwa- Nabongo Road, a speeding Toyota Reg No Cd 9347U that was coming from Kapchorwa side knocked her and she died on the spot.
Taitika says the body was taken to Muyembe Health Center IV mortuary for postmortem as the motor vehicle is impounded and parked at Mbale Central Police Station.
