Hon. Kabuye Kyofatogabye, the Minister of State for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs has revealed the foreign President who will be joining President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in this year’s Independence Day Celebrations.
Addressing the press at the Uganda Media Center today, Monday, 7th October, 2024, Kyofatogabye said the special invite is President of Central Africa Republic, His Excellency Faustin Archange Touadera adding that there will be several other special delegations that will join the President on that special day.
This year’s main celebration venue will be at Busikho Teacher’s Primary School Grounds, Masafu Town Council, Busia District. The Chief Guest will be His Excellency General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda.
President Faustin-Archange Touadéra was elected in February 2016 in the country’s first democratic polls since the crisis unfolded.
As expected, members of Cabinet, Judiciary, Parliament and other Government Officials have been invited and will join H.E the President to celebrate this historical day.
He also said that the Office of the President partnered with a German NGO BAZUNGU e.V. to offer free treatment for eye conditions as a give back to the people of Bukedi sub-region.
This clinic was held from September 23rd to 27th at Masafu General Hospital. A total of 1,005 patients across the region were handled; of which, 105 underwent eye surgeries and 700 obtained reading glasses.
On this day, H.E. the President will give out various categories of Medals to befitting Ugandans. 40 distinguished persons have been identified by the Chancery and H.E. the President has approved their names and will award them with special medals.
This year’s theme is, “Independence Day: A Recommitment to Secure and Fortify our Destiny”
