BUTALEJA
The Assistant Resident District Commissioner (ARDC) of Butaleja District, Jimmy Nambiro, has issued a stern warning to the LC 5 boss Butaleja district, Mr Higenyi Michael Bory to stop soliciting bribes from job applicants.
In a letter dated 8th October and seen by this Publication, Nambiro says the LCV Boss solicited for a bribe of Shs700,000 from a widow whom he identified as Nashema Rose of Bugangu, Busabi Sub County in Butaleja district with a promise of securing for her a son a teacher’s job.

The transaction that has now turned sour took place after the District Service Commission, Butaleja advertised vacancies in June, 2023.
Unfortunately, whereas the widow alleges that she handed the Shs700,000 to the Chairman herself, her son was not given the job nor was the money refunded.
Nambiro has in the letter directed the LCV Boss to refund the money to the widow or face consequences.
While speaking to this reporter on Monday, 14th October, 2024 at his office in Butaleja, Nambiro says the actions of the LCV Boss puts the image of service commission and Butaleja district in bad picture adding that the office of the President has Zero tolerance on any corruption tendencies.
Nambiro expressed his disappointment in some Government local leaders and implementers within the district who have chosen to engage in corrupt practices, thereby undermining the efforts of the RDC office to sensitize the community and ensure the success of government programs. He reiterated his office’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, emphasizing its critical role in achieving the government’s goal of socio-economic transformation.
“The community must aid in the fight against corruption in government,” Nambiro urged. “These leaders are meant to help our people freely. Everyone is facilitated to perform their duties, and all services should be provided free of charge.”
He called upon the people of Butaleja to remain vigilant and report any instances of corruption to the office of the President (RDC) as the only way of fighting corruption in district.
