A tragic accident occurred at about 6:30AM on the morning of Thursday, 17th October 2024 at at Lubaga road opposite Luqman petrol station.
The Traffic Police Spokesperson, SP Kananura Michael confirmed the incident saying 2 people died, and 8 others were injured in the road crash.
He says that the crash occurred when a speeding vehicle No. UAU 194T Toyota Hiace, traveling from Sanyu Babies Home on Butikiro Road, failed to brake while descending a slope.
“The vehicle lost control and rammed into a building alongside Lubaga Road, opposite Luqman Petrol Station, killing instantly 2 people, including the driver, and injured 8 others all occupants in the same vehicle,” he says.
The victims were rushed to Mengo Hospital & Mulago Referral Hospital for medical attention while the bodies of the deceased have been conveyed to Mulago City Mortuary pending post-mortem examination.
The vehicle has been towed to Old Kampala Police Station for inspection as inquiries commence.
