A devastating fire broke out this morning, Tuesday, 22nd October, 2024 ravaging a mini car garage in Atitir Village, Kocheka Sub County, Bukedea District.
The garage is owned by James Igara, a local mechanic dealing in motorcycle repairs and selling bottled petrol.
In an interview with this publication, Igara admits that the horrific incident happened after a charcoal stove he lit for cooking, made contact with petrol, sparking a huge fire.
“I had set the charcoal stove which was inside the room to organize lunch for myself accidently I saw fire sparking off,” said Mr. Igara.
Some of the valuable items consumed in the blaze include; motorcycle spare parts, tools, and stocked petrol fuel, resulting in losses worth millions.
Mr. Odeo Boniface, the landlord, reported being absent during the incident but rushed back upon receiving a neighbor’s distress call. Unfortunately, by the time he arrived, the garage was already engulfed in flames.
Meanwhile, no death case was registered.
