Shs5B St’ Mathew’s North Mbale Diocese Cathedral Launched

The Archbishop of Uganda, Samuel Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, on Sunday launched St Mathew’s cathedral North Mbale diocese Buhugu Church building.

 

St Mathew’s Cathedral North Mbale Diocese which is located at Buhugu Sub County in Sironko district broke off from Mbale Diocese in 1997 and it takes the Anglican churches of Sironko and Bulambuli.

 

The construction works of the church took 5 billion shillings in a period of five years.

 

While speaking during the launch, Mugalu appreciated Christians, political leaders and well-wishers who funded the construction works of the building to its completion.

 

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in his speech which was delivered by Raphael Magyezi, the Minister for Local Government asked religious leaders to partner with government in encouraging people to embrace government programs like Parish Development Model, Emyoga among others in order to improve on their Household incomes.

 

Museveni says that Uganda can easily achieve Vision 2040 if religious, cultural and political leaders join government in encouraging people to embrace government programs.

 

Samuel Gidudu, the Bishop of North Mbale Diocese urged Bugisu Members of Parliament under their umbrella, Bugisu Parliamentary Group to unite and raise one voice to government in terms of getting equal national cake like other regions.

 

He cited an example of the recent cabinet reshuffle where Bugisu was only given two state ministerial positions.

 

Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the Budadiri West Member of Parliament in Sironko district thanked all people who stood with him financially in the construction of St Matthew’s Cathedral Buhugu in North Mbale Diocese.
