The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry has given Namisindwa district Shs300million to boost farmers under the Micro Scale Irrigation Program in the FY/2024/5.
This was revealed by David Mityelo, the Namisindwa acting Production Officer while speaking to our reporter on 18th November, 2024 in an exclusive interview at his office.
According to Mityelo, 15 farmers doing agriculture farming near permanent water sources like streams, rivers, ponds and water springs are the ones going to benefit.
He adds that the purpose of this program is to ensure that farmers carryout agriculture throughout the year to increase food production and household incomes.
Mityelo says farmers are going to be given irrigation equipment of solar and thermal energy depending on one’s choice.
Jackson Wakwaika, the LCV chairperson of Namisindwa district also urged interested farmers to reach out to their sub county extension workers such that they can be registered and their names forwarded to the district production officer for consideration.
In the last financial year, Namisindwa district got over 330 million shillings from the same program and 15 farmers from Sub Counties of Buwatuwa, Magale Town Council, Bumbo Town Council, Bukokho among others benefited.
