Elgon region Police has officially opened a general inquiry file against Rogers Busiku Mulilo, the Ex-Police officer who joined the leading opposition political party, National Unity Platform (NUP) last week.
According to SP Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson, the GIF was opened on Thursday, 21st November, 2024 saying the Busiku had committed lots of crimes while still serving as a police officer and after retiring in 2019.
He says that police have opened a general file number 33/2024 saying that anybody who has any complaints against Busiku can register the cases at police regional office.
Taitika says after they are done receiving complaints, they are going to investigate him then the law takes its course.
Busiku and Mutwalibu Mafabi Zyanda the former mayor on FDC ticket of Mbale city when it was still a municipality crossed to NUP and Busiku was given a top position of Mbale city NUP Chairperson.
However, Busiku has described the Police action as intimidation after getting information that he has joined NUP.
He challenged Uganda police for keeping quiet while he was still serving as a police force officer and even after retiring wondering why they are now investigating him after joining NUP.
Busiku pledged to continue with the “struggle” saying if it means death he is ready but will not leave NUP.
