MBALE CITY: MTN Gives Central Main Market Face-lift

Mbale city in partnership with MTN Uganda are rehabilitating the Mbale central main market.

 

According to James Kutosi, the Mbale City public relations officer, MTN is going to pay Mbale city 6 million shillings monthly for advertising from there after painting adding that the market is going to look nice since it was last painted in 2014 when it was launched.

 

He adds that the market has been looking ugly both inside and outside and vendors have been complaining.

 

Fred Regi, the MTN manager Mbale region says that MTN is not only painting Mbale central market but other markets as well like Wandegeya Kampala, and Jinja central market located in Jinja city.

 

He says that MTN is spending over 5 million shillings on each market they are painting.

 

Regi also says that after painting the whole of the market, they are going to advertise MTN.

 

He urged vendors to embrace the exercise saying it’s going to make the market look better.

 

Stephen Watsemba and Sarah Kuloba, all vendors from Mbale central market expressed their happiness with the painting but urged the city council not to always wait for a private company to do such small things yet they pay taxes every day.
