President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has specified the various punishments for technical staff who steal or extort money from PDM beneficiaries and those who received PDM money yet they are not eligible.
Speaking to Bugisu journalists at State Lodge, Mbale City on Thursday, 19th December, 2024, President Museveni said technical staff indicted in the theft of PDM money will be forced to refund the stolen money but also face prosecution in the courts of law.
President Museveni says ineligible beneficiaries will be forced to refund all the money received but excused them from prosecution, saying, “Those ones, we shall treat them like they just made a mistake.”
Undeterred with the challenges affecting the implementation of PDM, the President said he will not give up the program citing his two failed attacks on Kabamba barracks in 1981.
“I tried to attack Kabamba barracks twice but failed. However, on the third attempt, I succeeded, and here I am. So we shall not give up,” he said.
The President later donated a drone and five acres of land to Bugisu journalists to expand on their goat rearing project.
