A suspect has committed suicide inside a police cell in Pallisa district.
Moses John Odongo, 54 years and a resident of Omindi cell, Omauron ward, Kabaale town council in Pallisa district took his own life on Saturday night, 21st December.
According to Moses Kitiyo Mwanga, the RPC Bukedi North region, Odongo was arrested and detained at Kabaale police station on Saturday after throwing a petrol bomb at his mother in law, Regina Akurut.
He says, the deceased quarreled with his wife known as Rose Akurut on Thursday after accusing her of being in a love relationship with another man.
Regina Akurut to his home to iron out issues but during the meeting, the deceased threw an exploitive petrol bomb object to his mother in law who ended up getting serious injuries. He accused her of siding with his daughter.
The deceased was arrested by Benedict Omutu the LCI chairperson of Omindi cell before the end of the meeting and was taken to Kabaale police station where he was detained from.
Kityo says that police officers at Kabaale police station were shocked to find the body of Odongo hanging on the roof of Kabaale police cells the following morning.
By press time the body had been taken to Mbale regional referral hospital for postmortem.
