Bugisu Cooperative Union (BCU) has contributed 10 million UGX towards the 3rd annual trek from Arlington Schools in Bududa to Masaba SS in Sironko.

The trek, held on Monday, 30th December 2024, was organized by Mountain Inn Hotels in partnership with Arlington Academy of Hope Schools, with proceeds aimed at supporting Arlington Schools in Bududa and Masaba SS in Sironko.

The donation was handed over by BCU General Manager, Wasagali Barbra, during the flagging-off ceremony in Bududa.

Wasagali emphasized that the contribution aligns with BCU’s corporate social responsibility efforts, noting that the Union has been actively involved in the trek since its inception.

Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi, BCU Board Chair and MP for Budadiri West, served as the event’s chief guest, as in previous years. He urged leaders and the Bamasaaba community to embrace the trek and support community initiatives.

Phoebe Lubago, Director of Secondary Education Planning at Arlington, received the funds on behalf of the institutions. She confirmed that the donation was equally shared, with 5 million UGX allocated to Arlington Schools and another 5 million UGX to Masaba SS.

Lubago added that proceeds from T-shirt sales were still being tallied and promised to provide a full accountability report.

Additionally, the Nandala Foundation contributed 2 million UGX to support the event. The donation was delivered by Jessica Muduwa, the area general manager, who urged the organizers to ensure proper utilization of the funds.
