As the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party moves closer to conduct primary elections in May this year, the Namisindwa district party [NRM] executive has dropped plans to censure their party registrar.

For the last two months, a section of Namisindwa district executive party leaders and those who are planning to contest for different positions in the coming NRM party primaries have been soliciting signatures to be taken to the party secretariat in Kampala to have Michael Mumya dropped as the district party registrar.

Wallboard Nakhabala who is the former contestant for Namisindwa county MP seat also planning to contest for the same seat in the coming primary elections says that he led the collection of signatures to censure Mumya after getting information from Sub county party registrars that their boss is asking them side with his particular candidates during the coming party primary elections.

He says that after getting that message since he is one of the people planning to contest during NRM primaries, he pushed on the censures motion.

Charles Nasimolo, the Namisindwa district NRM Vice chairperson says that after getting the information of planning to censure Mumya, as party leaders, they organized a special meeting last week involving all NRM district executive leaders and those planning to contest during the coming NRM primaries.

During the meeting, they tried to find out the truth about the allegation but they failed hence dropping the censure motion.

Meanwhile, Mumya told this reporter on phone today, Tuesday, 7th January, 2024 that it is only those contesting for Namisindwa County MP Seat who are accusing him of siding with the incumbent, Apollo Masika.

He says these contestants allege that he intends to rig votes for Masika during the NRM Party Primaries.

He says that anyone with evidence can table the facts so he can be punished adding that as a party registrar, he has no side during elections.
