MBALE CITY
Mbale City residents have looted over 1000 bags of cement from a Tororo Cement Industry Truck that was involved in a tragic single motor accident in the wee hours of Friday, 10th January, 2025.
The accident occurred at about 5:00AM along Majanga road in Mbale city and rolled over five times killing its driver and Turnboy.
According to eyewitnesses, the Truck suspected to have been carrying over 1000 bags of cement was heading towards Budaka from Tororo via Mbale City.
According to Juma Saidi, a boda boda rider and an eyewitness, immediately the Truck stopped rolling, a number of people gathered and took all cement which was loaded on the truck.
He says that later police responded and took the bodies of the deceased to Mbale city mortuary when all cement had been taken.
Sam Bunyasi, another eyewitness, says that the driver of the Truck was because beer bottles were discovered inside the truck.
Efforts to get a comment from Rogers Taitika, the Elgon region police spokesperson were futile by the time of filing this story because he did not pick our repeated calls.
By press time, the identities of the deceased had not yet been known but the vehicle was still at the scene.
