Night Ampurire, the Entebbe Municipality vendor operating at Kitoro Taxi Park who was given a brand new double cabin vehicle by MTN is in tears saying she can’t locate her car.

Ampurire, a renowned fruit vendor who was given a pickup by MTN Uganda, explained that the car broke down and she was referred to a mechanic from Kampala.

The mechanic requested Shs800, 000 for repairs. After using her savings, Ampurire paid Shs700, 000 shillings.

The mechanic then said he needed to test the car, but it was taken to an unknown location, and it has now been nearly two weeks without any word on its whereabouts.

Night Ampurire was officially handed over the brand new double cabin pick by MTN Uganda Chief Executive Officer Sylvia Mulinge during a weekly open market day on Tuesday August, 27, 2024. The car came with a baby car seat, a full tank of fuel and comprehensive motor-insurance.

Mrs. Mulinge noted that  MTN Uganda got concerned of the plight of the beneficiary following a video clip on social media showing her vending watermelons and pineapples on an  old Nissan Pickup truck registration number UAD 085B, which she paid in installments to a tune of Shs. 3.5 million.
