Police in Serere Central Police Station in Serere district are actively investigating the circumstances under which a 24 year fisherman was lynched by a mob.
The incident took place on 21/01/2025 at around 5:00AM at Madaka Village, Kabulabula Parish, Kadungulu Sub County in Serere District.
The deceased was identified as Julius Ejangu a male adult aged 24 years old, a fisherman and resident of Ongia Cell, Kidetok Ward, Kidetok Town Council in Serere District.
It’s alleged that on 21/01/2025 at around 0500/c at Madaka Village, Kabulabula Parish, Kadungulu Sub County in Serere District, the deceased was found stealing fish that was being smoked, the property of one Okwana David. The owner of the fish alarmed, neighbors responded, chased the suspect and he was assaulted up to death.
Damali Nachuha, the East Kyoga regional police commander confirmed the incident saying the case was reported by one Sam Olupot a male adult aged 40 years, a Peasant and resident of Madaka Village, Kabulabula Parish, Kadungulu Sub County in Serere District.
She said the Scene of crime was visited by the Scene of Crime Officer and Homicide team.
“The Deceased’s body was taken to Serere Health Center IV Mortuary for postmortem”, said Damali.
However, eleven pieces of smoked fish were recovered but no arrests made.
