A total of over 100 in-service teachers in Entebbe Municipality are be retooled with professional skills in imparting knowledge among learners in both pre-primary and primary schools.
The Executive Director Action for Liberty and Economic Development (ALED) John Socrates Mugabi, said on Monday January 27, 2025, that his agency has partnered with the University of Buckingham in U.K to offer online International Diploma in Education to in-service teachers to enable them acquire professional skills that are relevant when imparting knowledge among learners in both nursery and primary schools.
He noted that the Buckingham teacher training program aims at improving the quality of education in schools most especially in low -cost schools.
He revealed that so far over forty teachers have benefited from the training program adding that their impact has been felt in schools where they teach learners.
“We need to build a generation of innovative students in addition to professionalizing the teaching profession which has for long time been faced with numerous challenges related to quality of teachers, “Mr. Mugabi stated.
Mr. Mugabi further revealed that first cohort of in -service teachers graduated in 2023; the second cohort will graduate next month while the third cohort will begin the course in Mid-February 2025.
He however calls upon all in-service teachers across the country to enroll for the course so that they become internationally certified teachers with the University of Buckingham.
