EBOLA! Five Confirmed Cases under Isolation at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital

MBALE CITY

 

At least one person has been confirmed dead and five others in isolation at Mbale City Health Centre.

 

This was revealed by Mbale City Council Spokesperson, James Kutosi in a Social Media post on Sunday, 2nd February, 2025.

 

The outbreak follows the death of one male nurse who was temporarily admitted at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital and was laid to rest on Saturday, 1st February, 2025.

 

According to Kutosi, the confirmed cases are a wife to the deceased, a brother, a traditional healer who had attempted to treat the deceased, and clinical officers at Mbale Regional Hospital.

 

He is also reveals that the City Authorities have closed Mbale Municipal Health Center to the public and it is being used as an Ebola treatment Unit.

 

However Mbale Regional Referral Hospital authorities have not come out with an official statement on this break out.

Let’s brace for the worst.

As you may be aware, the person who died of Ebola was burial in Mbale city. He had days before sought care from various areas in the city.

A traditional healer, a private clinical, Mbale regional Hospital.

Of note the patient was often using public transport.

All the people the interacted directly & indirectly are with us in the community.

The wife turned positive & the brother is admitted with cardinal signs & symptoms.

We have of now closed Mbale municipal h/c to the public. It’s now our Ebola treatment Unit.

As a community, let’s do the basics;

Hand washing/ hygiene, avoid touching any mucosa, avoid any unnecessary hand shake or body contact. If necessary, have to do hand hygiene. gathering, Don’t wash dead bodies or maneuvers of any kind.

Avoid social gatherings.

If the basics are not well embraced, we shall remain with no option but to recommend a Quarantine, better known as a LOCK DOWN for Mbale city.

As they are preparing mbale city health centre as an isolation joint.
