Wakiso District authorities have closed Saidina Islamic Health Center 1V Hospital in Matugga, and health workers have been evacuated to an isolation center in Mulago National Referral Hospital.

The closure confirmed by Dr. Emmanuel Mukisa, Wakiso District Health Officer (DHO) follows confirmation that an Ebola victim visited the hospital before dying at Mulago National Referral Hospital on January 29, 2025.

He says about 20 health workers of the Health Center IV are being monitored for the next 21 days adding that if by the expiry of the 21 days, they have not fallen ill, they will be declared free of Ebola.

The patient visited this Health facility seeking treatment and was actually treated there,” he says.

The Male Nurse originating from Mbale City was later laid to rest on Friday, 30th January, 2025 at Namunsi, Northern City Division in Mbale City.

Dr. Mukisa, also stated that arrangements are being made to close Ele’ama Clinic in Nabweru after reports surfaced that the same victim had sought treatment there as well.
