The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leadership, led by Party President Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat, joined thousands of supporters in Nyero Town Council, Kumi District, to endorse Ms. Atemo Mary Gorrety, as their Flag bearer for Woman MP for Kumi.
The event baptized thanksgiving ceremony began with a Holy Mass led by Rev. Fr. Emalu Emanuel Michael of St. Anthony Padwa Parish, Nyero – Soroti Catholic Diocese on Saturday, 8th February, 2025.
Key FDC figures, including Secretary General Rt. Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi, Women League Chairperson Ms. Agnes Kisakye, and Youth League Chairperson Mr. Adepo Francis, attended alongside several MPs from Teso, such as Hon. Stella Isodo Apolot (Ngora), Hon. Joan Alobo Achom (Soroti City), and Hon. Embwalu Johnathan (Soroti East).
Eng. Amuriat reaffirmed the FDC’s commitment to fighting for people’s rights, urging Kumi residents to support leaders who prioritize public interest over partisan gains. Rt. Hon. Nandala Mafabi emphasized opposition unity as key to change in Uganda and commended Ms. Atemo for stepping forward to serve.
In her speech, Ms. Atemo expressed gratitude to her supporters, the church, and the FDC leadership, assuring the people of Kumi that she will be their voice.
