The 2nd Edition of the BCU Sports Club Tournament came to a close yesterday on Sunday, February 9th, 2025, at the Mbale Stadium, with Lower Central Zone emerging as the overall champion. The team took home two trophies, winning both the football and netball finals.
In the football final, Lower Central Zone defeated Sironko Valley A 2-0, with goals from Khaukha Patrick and Watuwa Samuel. Sironko Valley A had a chance to level the score after being awarded a penalty, but Khaukha Emmanuel made a crucial save to secure the win for Lower Central. In the netball final, Lower Central Zone dominated the game, leading 33-10 in four quarters.
The tournament also saw the recognition of outstanding individual performances. Mujansi Alvin was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in football, while Mukimba Prisca received the same honor in netball. Bugusege’s Mafabi Ezekiel was named the top scorer with an impressive 5 goals, including a hat-trick in the third-place match against Tsutsu Zone. Khaukha Emmanuel was awarded the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

Winner: Lower Central Zone (trophy +Medals +500,000)
Runner-up: Sironko Valley A-( 300,000)
Third place: Bugusege (150,000)
Netball:
Winner: Lower Central Zone( trophy +Medals +300,000)
Runner-up: Bugusege Zone ( Evelop 200,000)
Third place: Tsutsu Zone -100,000
The BCU Treasurer, Nathan Mabonga, who represented the BCU Chairman, Nathan Nandala Mafabi, congratulated the winners and appreciated the zones for participating in the tournament.
He promised to put in more effort to make the program meet the expectations of nurturing talent. “We are committed to developing the skills and abilities of our young athletes,” he said. “We will continue to work hard to provide them with the opportunities and resources they need to succeed ”
