The late Paul Kafeero’s family is demanding Shs 2 Billion from Gravity Omutujju for duplicating “Walumbe Zaaya Rmx” song in 2012.

This is contained in a Demand Notice Cum Intention to Sue dated 10th February, 2025 by the Kafeero family that is being represented by GM Kibirige & Co Advocates.

“We act for and on behalf of Kafeero Thomas and Nagawa Elizabeth, the administrators of the late Paul Kafeero Estate,” reads the intention to sue notice.

The Plaintiffs aver that the Late Kafeero Paul who passed away on 17th May, 2007 was the owner of the copyright and neighboring rights in artistic work/song entitled ‘WALUMBE ZAAYA’, originally composed, sung and published in 1991.

The Kafeero family now accuses Gereson Wabuyu a.k.a Gravity Omutujju of reproducing, shooting, performing, and publishing a Music Video titled, ‘Walumbe Zaaya Rmx’ without authorization.

The Family says these actions constitute unauthorized commercial exploitation of the Late Paul Kafeero’ intellectual property rights.

Omutujju has now been directed to stop performing, distributing or commercially exploiting the song.

He is also directed to immediately remove the duplicate copy of the song from all Platforms and related Channels where it has been uploaded.

The banger is that Omutujju should pay the Kafeero Family Shs2 Billion in general damages for the violations committed over the years.
