Suspected Karamojong cattle rustlers on Sunday night, 16th, Feb 2025 stormed Amujeju village, Amujeju parish in Kamutur Sub County in Bukedea District and raided twelve cattle.

Stolen cattle belong to one Sadik Cherop, a resident of the same area.

According to the report, the cattle were inside a Kraal and surprisingly, the rustlers intruded using the behind entrance.

Mr. James Peter Malinga, Amujeju area local council one chairperson confirmed to this publication on Tuesday morning 18th, Feb 2025 saying Mr. Cherop reported the case of cattle theft to his office.

“I received the report yesterday Monday 17th, Feb 2025 of cattle theft by one Sadik Cherop when I was in the market, but when we searched the foot marks, they pass through Isiagi swamp connecting to Koroc crossing the bordering river”, said Mr. Malinga.

Mr. Malinga also added that the bordering river between Bukedea and Karamoja is currently dry and it eases the access of the Karamojong to the neighboring sub counties.

“This Koroc river has been a barrier to the Karamojong to cross this side when water is there but now the river is dry and now they can cross,” he added.

Mr. Sadik Cherop, the cattle owner told this publication that the foot marks were for two rustlers wearing their local traditional shoes.

Mr. Jackson Ojekede, Kamutur LCIII chairperson who doubles as chairperson security at the sub county appealed for government intervention.

“This kind of cattle theft is again resuming and it has not been there over years,” said Mr. Ojekede.
