A tragic accident has occurred today, Wednesday afternoon, 19th February, 2025 along the Mbale-Pallisa high way in Kachomo Trading Center, Budaka District where a nurse known as Eseza Katono died.
According to Moses Kitiyo Mwanga, the Bukedi North region RPC, the incident involved two motorcycles, a Bajaj Boxer with registration number UFQ 649Z, driven by 25-year-old Joel Gongerere and a Yamaha motorcycle with registration number UG 5048M, whose rider has not yet been identified.
He says eyewitnesses say the Bajaj Boxer knocked the Yamaha motorcycle from behind, causing both to fall. The passenger on the Bajaj Boxer, 24-year-old Esaza Katono, a nurse at Kerekerene Private Clinic located at Budaka town council, succumbed to her injuries on the way to Mbale Referral Hospital.
The passenger on the Yamaha motorcycle, Nankya Sophiyati, a resident of Bulangila Trading Center in Kibuku District, sustained injuries and is currently at Mbale regional referral hospital in critical condition.
He says that Police officers from Kaderuna Police Station, led by Julius Kyatulaga, visited the scene and towed both motorcycles to Kaderuna Police Station for inspection.
Kitiyo adds that arrangements are underway for a postmortem examination of the deceased.
