Police in Rwampara District have arrested one person in connection with the murder of Tumwesigye Damazo, a resident of Mweya cell, Nyeihanga ward. The suspect, identified as Banabas, is the son of the deceased.
According to a Police statement issued today, Tuesday, February 25, 2025, residents found Damazo’s body in a roadside trench on February 22, 2025, and alerted Police which introduced its canine unit dog Hector to the scene of crime.
Hector tracked a human scent from the crime scene to Banabas’ home, approximately 1.5 kilometers away.
A search of the premises yielded a black T-shirt with blood stains, which Banabas’ wife had allegedly taken to a neighbor’s home. Investigations have revealed that Banabas and the deceased were not on good terms.
“The police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Damazo’s murder,” says police.
