A former National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate for Budadiri East constituency in Sironko district, Samuel Nanoka, has resurfaced hours after he had allegedly been abducted by unknown individuals.

According to Ivan Masaba, a former NUP flag bearer for MP Northern City Division in Mbale City, Nanoka was taken from Nkoma on Monday night, 3rd February, 2025 while on his way home from town. He however, resurfaced on Tuesday afternoon badly injured and nursing injuries.

He adds that witnesses claim he was abducted by people in plain clothes and taken to an unknown location.

Masaba says Nanoka’s phones eventually went off and attempts to locate him at police stations were unsuccessful.

He says NUP leaders and Nanoka’s family members reported the incident to Nkoma police station, seeking their assistance in finding him. The motive behind the abduction is unclear, with speculation that it may be related to political matters or personal issues.

When contacted, Damiano Katwisime, the Elgon region deputy regional police commander, urged NUP members to formally report the incident to the police, stating that he only got to hear about the alleged abduction through social media.
